Navca has rejected the Cabinet Office’s new Procurement Pledge, instead opting to support a Local Government Association alternative, and is calling on other not-for-profit organisations to do likewise.

Navca has warned that charities creating an investment platform where investors in the charity are expecting a return, could be pressured into maximising profits for investors, rather than furthering the interests of the charity.

The extra £40m the government will make available to the not-for-profit advice sector over the next two years is “simply not enough”, according to Paul Treloar, head of policy and communications at Lasa.

Former Navca chief executive Kevin Curley has joined the NCVO’s advisory council, which helps to inform and shape the umbrella body’s policy work as it is being developed.
