Church Commissioners for England

Great Smith Street
SW1 P3AZ

The Commissioners is a financial body; managing assets, market shares, and property on the behalf of the Church of England. As the Church’s fiscal appendage, it supports the work of the church ministry, meets the church’s pension commitments, and runs the National Clergy Pay Department. Like any charity, it is subject to external review and annually submits reports to Parliament and the General Synod.

The Church Commissioners is head by a Board of Governors. The commission is comprised of asset, pastoral, church buildings, audit and management advisory committees. This structure was developed after the 1948 merger between Queen Anne’s Bounty and the Ecclesiastical Commissioners.
