The Charity Finance Directors’ Group (CFDG) is the umbrella body for charity finance directors, stating its aim as to “advance public education in and promote improved standards of management in charities”.

It has more than 1,500 members and as of February 2009, its membership managed over £14bn of charity income. CFDG members receive a regular newsletter, free members' meetings and access to a helpline, not to mention a free copy of the Charity Finance Yearbook.

CFDG is also active in the policy field, and is represented on a variety of working groups in and around government and the Charity Commission. It plays a key role in the development of the Statement of Recommended Practice (SORP) for charity financial reporting and is represented on the SORP Review team. It publishes a range of good practice guides.

CFDG was founded in 1987 by Adrian Randall, then FD at Cancer Research Campaign, with an initial membership of 130 charities. Present chief executive Caron Bradshaw took up the reins in July 2010, following nearly four years under the stewardship of Keith Hickey. Hickey left at the end of 2009 to become FD at RNIB.
