Volunteering England (VE) is a national volunteering development membership body.
It was formed in April 2004 following a merger between the Consortium on Opportunities for Volunteering, the National Centre for Volunteering and Volunteer Development England.
On 1 July 2007 VE also merged with Student Volunteering England.
VE provides grants, support and advice on volunteering to charities that use volunteers, as well as research, policy and development activity.
It is working to secure and support an England-wide network of quality volunteer development agencies.
It is a strategic partner of the Office of the Third Sector, which means it receives a grant in return for meeting certain objectives agreed with the government.
