45/51 Shakespeare Street
SOUTHPORT
PR8 5AB

Founded 30 years ago, Rethink is a charity that focuses on severe forms of mental illness. Originally known as the National Schizophrenic Society, Rethink changed its name to reflect its work with people who have a range of mental health issues.

Knowing prevention is key, the charity’s community support centres have national ‘talking’ therapy programmes giving participants the opportunity to discuss problems. Rethink also provides care for those who are institutionalised, performing mental assessments and offering rehabilitation care for inmates.

Outside of the prison setting, It provides crisis support, as well as residential beds when dealing with individuals needing long-term attention. Caring for and representing people with mental illness, Rethink also advocates on the behalf of patients when appropriate.
