Acevo is a membership body for civil society chief executives. It was set up in 1987 by a group of charity chief executives who wanted to develop a networking and support group for the charity sector.
It provides a range of services to members including helplines, networking events, professional development courses and workshops, all focused on leadership development. It also keeps members informed about developments in the charity sector and represents them through its policy work.
The current chief executive is Stephen Bubb, who is also non-executive chair of the Adventure Capital Fund which invests in community enterprises and chair of Futurebuilders, a £400m investment fund for the third sector. In 2007, he also became secretary general of EUCLID. Bubb works a four-day week at Acevo. His deputy is Dr Peter Kyle.
