The Charity Retail Association - formerly the Association of Charity Shops - is the only membership organisation dedicated to charities that run shops. As of November 2010, it had 320 charity members running around 7,000 shops.
Founded in 1999, it conducts research, provides guidance, information, training and support and campaigns on key policy issues. Its annual conference, held every July at Keele University, is the principal event for the charity shop sector.
The Association’s chief executive is Warren Alexander.
