The London Marathon Charitable Trust

Every year money raised by the London Marathon which is remaining after the race is donated to the London Marathon Charitable Trust. The Trust then distributes the money as grants to support community sports facilities and develop recreational projects.

A proportion of this money comes from the London Marathon entrants who choose to donate their race entry fee to the Trust if they’re not successful in the ballot.

The amount raised each year runs into millions and is used to help hundreds of projects in London and around the country.

The Trust also sets aside money to buy sports grounds under threat from development, and provide facilities for the 2012 Olympic Games.
