The Directory of Social Change is an independent charity which provides information and training to the voluntary sector.

It started in 1974 and has been running courses and publishing books, reports and reference guides ever since. It also challenges and creates debates about any governmental policies that threaten small charities and hosts conferences about issues related to fundraising.

Debra Allcock-Tyler is the DSC's chief executive. For many years the DSC was run by Luke FitzHerbert, a highly-respected and inspirational campaigner for more transparency and openness in grantmaking.  FitzHerbert was killed in a car crash in January 2007.
