Selection criteria for charities in the Top 100 and Next 250

100 250 selection criteria

You can use the following options – singly or in combination – to create your chart

Plot average: This will plot the average of each income stream selected for the Top 100 and/or Next 250 for each year selected.

Plot max value: This will plot the maximum value for each income stream selected for the Top 100 and/or Next 250 for each year selected.

Plot min value: This will plot the minimum value for each income stream for the Top 100 and/or Next 250 for each year selected.

Chart types: You can use bar charts or line charts to present the selected data.

Rebase results to 1,000: This will enable you to directly compare the growth rates of disparate data sets by rebasing all values for the first year to 1,000 and calculating and plotting the values of subsequent years relative to 1,000

Income data for each charity is derived from the annual statement of financial activity (SoFA). Gains on the disposal of tangible assets, net gains on investments realised and gifts in kind are not included as income and are excluded from the figures. Total annual income is then subdivided into five income streams: legacy, voluntary, grants and fees, investment and trading.

Sector searches enable you to retrieve and plot data on charities active in each sector specified AND in the Top 100 and/or Next 250 for the years selected.

The charity selection box displays charities according to the time period and/or sector specified in your search.

The charity selection box will only display charities, which have a complete run of data for the years specified.

If a specific sector is selected, the charity selection box will only display charities active in that sector, which have a complete run of data for the years specified. Selecting ‘Show charities from all sectors’  will override this sector filter.

If your charity doesn’t appear in the listing above, you can input your own data manually.

Once you have done this, it is advisable to save your chart using the library facility below, so that you can store your figures and retrieve them at a later date.
